Saw this in a Facebook
post and I thought it was so good that I decided to steal
share it.
It's been identified as
a dealer in York, England and the picture was taken at the end of
1965 (Thunderball was released in December of that year).
Love how it sums up an
era of bike shops that have largely disappeared – lots of bikes in
one window and accessories in the other. The petrol pumps and Reliant
3 wheelers in the yard, and the lists of British motorbikes and
bicycles they stocked. Ominous is the Honda sign above the door –
an early sign of which way the market was heading!
Cars in front are an
Austin A35 and an 'old style' Mini, and notice the ghostly figures at
the upsatirs window!
Give me an old shop like this instead of one of the new "boutique" style shops of today anyday.
