Friday bike

Every so often a bike comes along that isn't really my 'kind of thing', but I just like it and the Royal Enfield Himalayan is one of those.
It uses an OHC 411cc single cylinder engine producing a fairly mild 24.5 bhp, but rather than being a 'Bullet with bits bolted on', it appears to use a new frame with single shock rear suspension.

I really like the rather funky styling, and with 'adventure sports' being in fashion at the moment, I hope it sells well. We need more 'different' bikes on the market.

Spec:

Type                                          Single cylinder, air-cooled, 4 stroke, SOHC
Displacement                           411cc
Bore x Stroke                           78 mm x 86 mm
Compression Ratio                   9.5:1
Maximum Power                      24.5 BHP (18.02 KW) @ 6500 RPM
Maximum Torque                     32 NM @ 4000 - 4500 RPM
Ignition system                         TCI, multi-curve
Clutch                                       Wet, multi-plate
Gearbox                                     5 speed constant mesh
Lubrication                               Wet sump
Fuel supply                               Carburettor with throttle position sensor
Engine start                               Electric

No more details at present although I would assume the it'll have fuel injection for Europe and other areas with tighter emissions laws.

  1. Two thumbs up. We are waiting patiently for these and hope they actually make it to the US Shores.
