This blog started when I owned and MZ Skorpion Traveller and a bike magazine dismissed it with the phrase 'you can't tour on a single'. The Skorpion's gone and was replaced by a Triumph Bonneville which I owned for ten years. My main bike now is a 2006 BMW R1200ST. I can't be bothered changing the name of the blog, so we're stuck with it!

Wow, so that's what the world looked like when I was in diapers.(I'm getting old...) What a great site. Inspires me to get going on my Triumph projects. Amazing that his father's old bike showed up, and is still being ridden. Wonder if the old VW is still around? Wild front loading airplane they flew over on. Nice find there, Norman.

Once I'd adjusted my cravat and smoking jacket and settled down with my pot of tea I rather enjoyed that.
ReplyDeleteDifferent times indeed.

Anyone else notice that chaps were wearing jackets and ties when they left Britain, were wearing casual shirts and no ties by the time they got to Austria, but the ties and jackets were back on for returning home? The front loading plane is quite something, it's strange to think that people flew to across the Channel rather than taking a boat. And a Europe where you had to stop at borders - changed days indeed. His father's bike turning up at the end was the icing on the cake! Glad you all liked it as much as I did!
